Alexander Smagin on the Organization of the Viennese Ball in Moscow

On July 17, Alexander Smagin, Director General, the Viennese Ball in Moscow  together with his colleague and partner Galina Fomina spoke at the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy.

The lecture was focused on the topic: "Ball and business are two Incompatible Things?" The Viennese Ball is a grandiose, large-scale and unique event, and its organization is a laborious and multi-layered process, requiring careful work and fine understanding of beauty, the guest explained.

The Viennese Ball can be represented as a complex structure. Alexander Smagin explained that the organization of the Ball was exciting but difficult: "Had I known how difficult it was at the beginning of my career, maybe I would not have done it at all. But now I'm glad that the Ball is the main one in my life,"  the Director General of the Viennese Ball in Moscow admitted.

The expert does not put profit in the first place, but personal interest and public benefit.

The ball and business is a specific combination, which has a different system of priorities. The ball instills interest in history, culture, classical music and educates the younger generation, teaches etiquette and correct manners.

The first Viennese Ball in Moscow took place 15 years ago, much has changed since then, and each year the event becomes more bright and ambitious. Such balls are held in other countries: most recently, Alexander Smagin and Galina Fomina returned from China, where, despite the differences in cultures, everything went very well.

The meeting with the experts was organized in the format of a conversation – the speakers told about the organization, the search for sponsors, the traditions and rules of the Viennese Ball, showed a video presentation. Participants of the RANEPA Summer Campus were able to experience the fantastic atmosphere and the immensity of this event.
