Association of MBAs President Sir Paul Judge passes away
Sir Paul Judge Paul Judge, President of AMBA International, a member of the International Advisory Board and Honorary Doctor of RANEPA, passed away on Sunday May 21 at the age of 68.
Sir Paul Judge (April 25, 1949 – May 21, 2017) has made an enormous contribution to the development of global business education. He was the founder of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, one of the world's leading business schools, where the foreign module for the Executive MBA program of RANEPA Institute of Business Studies (IBS) is based.
Sir Paul’s career with AMBA began back in 1970. He has been President of AMBA since 1997 and has been pivotal in the Association’s growth and development from its very early days. As President, he has chaired AMBA’s International Accreditation Advisory Board and the International Advisory Council. He was engaged in finance education and services. Under his guidance, the association became the world leader in the assessment of quality of business education.
He chaired the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise Education Trust, the Museum of Brands, and St Dunstan's College; he was a member of the Togolese President's International Advisory Council, the Council of the Crown Agents, and the Advisory Boards for the UK-India Business Council, for HEC in Paris and for the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has honorary degrees from Cambridge, Westminster City and London South Bank University. He was a key benefactor of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge.
After earning his degrees from Trinity College, Cambridge University and the Wharton Business School (MBA), Sir Paul worked for Cadbury Schweppes. Later, he chaired the non-departmental government agency Food from Britain set up by the government to promote British food exports. He was Director General of the Conservative Party and a Ministerial Adviser at the UK Cabinet Office.
Sir Paul was the Aldermanic Sheriff of the City of London (2013-2014), President of the Chartered Management Institute (2004-2005) and Chartered Institute of Marketing (2008-2014), Chairman of the Royal Society of Arts (2003-2006), Head of the Marketing Society (2005- 2006), Chair of Teachers TV (2005-2008), Member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (2008-2010), Board Member of the American Management Association in New York (2000-2012), Chairman of Schroder Income Growth Fund (2005-2013), Director of Standard Bank Group Ltd of Johannesburg (2003-2012) and a non-executive director of Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) (2007-2013).
A well-known businessman, board member of the world's largest companies, and a bright politician who held high positions in the UK government, Sir Paul was a regular participant of the Gaidar Forum at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and RANEPA Summer Campus in Kazan. His presentations always aroused great interest among the audience. He shared bright ideas, new insights and was open to dialogue with the public.
Sir Paul Judge provided an example to the academic community. He will be remembered as a wise and progressive leader. His death is a huge loss for his colleagues and for the Presidential Academy. We express our deep condolences to Sir Paul's family and friends. We grieve with you.
