CEO of Coca Cola HBC Russia Stefanos Vafidis visits RANEPA
General Manager of Coca Cola HBC Russia Stefanos Vafidis has met with the students and professors of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FESS) of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
Head of the FESS English Language Department Anna Lipina moderated the English-language conversation, which lasted more than two hours.
Mr. Vafidis also answered dozens of questions from the audience, some of them having to do with his biography. The students were curious how a graduate of the Physics and Computer Science Faculty who started working for Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company as an intern, managed to build a career up to the level of the country manager for Russia, one of Coca Cola’s most important markets. They talked about the specifics of the company's work in our country and the difficulties of cross-cultural management, and about the new brands Coca Cola is preparing to release on the Russian market, which is especially important with the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Coca Cola has traditionally been the official sponsor of football championships and always launched a new brand for these events.
The guest spoke about the company’s product, which include mineral water, carbonated drinks, juices, and energy drinks, comparing them with the products of competitors. He also gave some details about the secrets of Coca Cola’s success and about his work as a country manager of one of the world’s largest companies.
Part of the conversation concerned the students who attended the meeting: Mr. Vafidis shared his views on the challenges of modern education, made some interested comments about the students’ visions of their future and employment plans and gave them some advice, in particular to those planning to work at Coca Cola Russia.
The RANEPA and Coca Cola cooperation plans include a course in logistics for fourth-year FESS students, taught by representatives of the American company. The best students will then be invited for an internship with a salary and a job prospect.
