RANEPA graduate Vyacheslav Bocharov appointed to head the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation
Hero of Russia Vyacheslav Bocharov, a graduate of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), has been elected Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation at the organization’s plenary meeting.
Established in 2005, the Civic Chamber is a civil society institution promoting the interaction between society and public authorities. Its job is to ensure that the interests and rights of ordinary citizens are observed in the process of lawmaking. Members of the Civic Chamber work through commissions or working groups set up to consider especially important documents. They examine draft laws and regulations, and organize public hearings.
The Public Chamber includes 168 people: 40 citizens approved by the President, 85 representatives of the civic chambers of constituent regions of the Russian Federation, and 43 representatives of non-profit public organizations that are selected by online voting.
