RANEPA students and teachers receive Cambridge certificates
The Cambridge Certification Center at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) conducted an examination session in English for undergraduate and retraining students of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FESS).
For the third consecutive year, the Presidential Academy has been successfully preparing Bachelors of its FESS Management program for international certification. The examination papers are evaluated at Cambridge University.
This year, 131 RANEPA students took part in the session. Based on their CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) score, 12 people were awarded C1 (Advanced) and two people, C2 (Proficiency, CPE) certificates. On June 29, Cambridge Assessment English is to return the BEC Higher and BEC Vantage results for 117 students.
RANEPA shows a high level of training for Cambridge University exams compared with other Cambridge certification centers based in Moscow. “The RANEPA Cambridge Certification Center fully meets all international requirements for the preparation of candidates for exams and the organization of the examination process,” said Yelena Markova, Cambridge ESOL manager for Russia, Belarus, Central Asia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Center has also successfully retrained English language teachers using the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) of the University of Cambridge. This test helps assess the professional level of using various teaching methods, as well as the extent to which the teacher is able to use educational and technical resources, plan lessons and manage the audience.
Teachers of the Department of English at the RANEPA Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (headed by Associate Professor Anna Lipina, Ph.D.) successfully passed all three TKT modules from March to June and received their Cambridge University certificates.
In October, the RANEPA Cambridge Certification Center together with Cambridge Assessment English will deliver a free three-day refresher course on TKT-3 Modules. The English Language Departments of RANEPA FESS, IIM, IPACS and HSFM have already applied for this course.
Teachers who successfully pass the exam will receive a certificate of professional development (36 credit hours) and three Cambridge certificates – Language and background to language learning and teaching; Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching; and Managing the teaching and learning process.
At the end of August, RANEPA will draw up a program for preparation and Cambridge University international examinations for the next year for students and teachers. Preparation courses will be now available to students of other RANEPA departments and schools in addition to FESS.
