RANEPA Students participate in Harvard Model UN 2017
Last month, the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) took place in Boston, one of the most prestigious international conferences. The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) was represented for the 11th time by students of its Institute of Business Studies, the only group from Russia.
The Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) is known all over the world. It has been held since 1955; this year, 2,800 students from 68 countries took part in the event. The delegation of the Faculty of International Relations of RANEPA IBS successfully represented the interests of Mongolia and Yemen.
RANEPA students took part in the work of the committees, trying to find solutions to the problems of the recent past and the present. The issues under discussion included the decolonization of Western Sahara; women's rights, the protection of World Heritage sites in areas of armed conflict; and the amnesty of political prisoners.
During the HNMUN 2017, RANEPA IBS students joined effective coalitions with delegates from other teams. The conference participants worked almost around the clock for three days, and their efforts yielded results. Our teams developed draft resolutions that were adopted in each of the committees despite intense discussions during the meetings.
