Student of RANEPA Dzerzhinsk branch wins gold at 2017 Winter Military World Games
From February 22 to 28, Sochi hosted the Third Winter Military World Games. Artyom Maltsev, a student of the Dzerzhinsk branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), was on the Russian team that won the ski team sprint race.
The Winter Military World Games are a multi-sport event for military sportspeople. The competitions are held once every four years, one year before the Winter Olympics. Russia won the bidding to host the Games in 2017 at the 70th General Assembly of the International Military Sports Council (CISM).
The sprint freestyle (biathlon) event took place on February 26. The Russian team won the final stage of men’s cross-country skiing competition with the best result of 20 minutes and 36.6 seconds; Sergeant Artyom Maltsev, a student of RANEPA Dzerzhinsk branch, and Lieutenant Nikolai Morilov were on the team.
