Second meeting of the Climate Sustainability Working Group (CSWG) under the Argentinian presidency in the fora
The second meeting of the G20 Climate Sustainability Working Group (CSWG) under the Argentinian presidency in the fora started in the north-eastern Argentine city of Puerto Iguazú, Misiones. The meeting is attended by representatives from G20 member countries, guest countries, international organizations, G20 engagement groups and NGOs.
The agenda includes tackling adaptation to climate change, creating long-term strategies and mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mobilizing climate finance flows. A workshop on the “G20 Resource Efficiency Dialogue” was organized in the first day.
The meeting will conclude with the recommendations for consideration by the G20 leaders.
The issue of climate action was first addressed by the G20 in 2008. In 2017, it was discussed formally in the Sustainability Working Group, which also dealt with energy issues. Under the Argentine G20 presidency this year, energy and climate sustainability have been split into two separate working groups.
