Mr. Eduardo Villegas Megías, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States, gave a lecture on the gastrodiplomacy of Mexico.
The diplomat told the students how national cuisine is becoming an instrument of cultural diplomacy and soft power, helping to shape the international image of the country and strengthen ties between peoples.
«Gastronomy is a part of the cultural code of the nation and an important tool of soft power. Through the traditions of cuisine, we are building bridges of trust and mutual understanding between the countries»,- said Mr. Ambassador.
After the lecture, the students were surprised by the Mexican Embassy — a small buffet of national Mexican dishes — mole buns, sope and tacos dorados.
In addition, Rector Alexey Komissarov took this opportunity to receive Mr. Ambassador. The parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of education, science and management training, including the prospects of partnership with the National Institute of Public Administration in Mexico City and the launch of a second internship stream at the Embassy of Mexico for students.
