On June 25, Interfax released its latest National University Ranking for 2025. The Presidential Academy has continued the upward momentum that began last year, climbing to 18th place — up from 19th in 2024 and 20th in 2023. A total of 389 Russian universities were included in this year's ranking.
The Presidential Academy has consistently held the #1 position in the Social Environment category. This group of indicators evaluates the quality of student life, including campus infrastructure (such as dormitory availability and campus development), investment in social programs, and the scope of continuing education (based on the number of programs, participants, and revenue generated).
Additionally, the Academy has secured a spot in the top three for the Brand category. This segment measures a university's media presence, website traffic and quality, Hirsch index, and its role in cultivating future leaders and "elites."
The Presidential Academy has also improved its standing in the Collaboration category, which measures the strength of its branch network, the number of Russian and international partners, staff participation in academic conferences, the number of co-authored publications with Russian and foreign institutions, and the number of educational programs offered in foreign languages.
The Academy's regional network now includes 56 branches and representative offices across 42 regions of Russia. In 2024, new offices were opened in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Udmurtia, the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and several other areas.
The National University Ranking has been published by the Interfax Group since 2010. Its main goal is to develop independent evaluation systems for Russian universities and their academic programs, enhance the competitiveness of Russia's education system, scientific research, and tech entrepreneurship, and foster the growth of both federal and regional universities.
