RANEPA journals in the national lists of scientific editions

Seven academic journals of the Presidential Academy have been included in the Russian White List of scientific publications. The list comprises over 30 thousand of Russian and international journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The list was created in 2022 to ensure monitoring and evaluation of the publication activity of Russian scientists as a response to the decision of Scopus and Web of Science to limit cooperation with Russia.

Similar initiatives to establish national lists of approved scientific journals have been adopted in many countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Finland, China, Italy, Spain, South Africa, and several others.

These lists adhere to rigorous quality criteria established by each country's expert community and are recognized as authoritative publication venues for scholarly research. They serve as key evaluation tools for assessing scientific productivity and determining funding for research teams.

For journals, inclusion in national lists is an opportunity to increase their international recognition and attract authors from other countries. For scientists, it’s an opportunity to choose a reputable journal without getting lost in the huge array of scientific periodicals that exist in the world.

The lists of approved journals usually include levels or categories to evaluate quality and competitiveness of a journal. The distribution by levels is usually based on both scientometric indicators and expert assessments.

The scientific journals of the Presidential Academy are included in all most famous national lists of approved editions. The AJG (the UK) includes two journals of the RANEPA — State, Religion and Church in Russia and Worldwide and Ekonomicheskaya Politika / Economic Policy. These are the only Russian journals (jointly with Russian Journal of Economics) represented in the list, which focuses on economics, finance, management and related disciplines. AJG experts evaluate not only scientometric indicators, but also the quality of published articles, international cooperation, contribution to the sustainable development agenda and citations of the journals in strategic planning documents.

The ABDC Journal Quality List (Australia) includes Ekonomicheskaya Politika / Economic Policy and Applied Econometrics. To be included in the list, a journal must demonstrate relevance to the business community, consistent publication standards and high citation rates.

The Australian ERA Journal List includes State, Religion and Church in Russia and Worldwide.

The JUFO portal (Finland) employs a tiered classification system for academic journals based on their scholarly recognition. Six journals are currently included in this listing, namely State, Religion and Church in Russia and Worldwide, Ekonomicheskaya Politika / Economic Policy, Shagi / Steps, Sociology of Power, Sotsium i vlast / Society and Power and Theoretical and Applied Law.

The Norwegian register includes the journal State, Religion and Church in Russia and Worldwide, the Hungarian list MTMT contains eleven RANEPA journals, and the Spanish CIRC – ten ones. Applied Econometrics has been accepted to the Italian ANVUR list.

Algeria's list includes 13 Presidential Academy journals due to their indexation in ABDC, Scopus and ERIH PLUS.

The South African DHET list features twelve journals of the Presidential Academy. Five journals are included based on their Scopus indexing, but the largest proportion of titles are included due to their presence in the DOAJ.

Inclusion in national lists of approved academic editions affirms that the Academy’s journals meet international publishing and editorial standards, uphold rigorous academic quality in their articles, align with current research trends, and serve the needs of the global scientific community.
