Rector of the Presidential Academy Alexey Komissarov and Ambassador of the League of Arab States (LAS) Dr. Walid Hamid Shiltag held a working meeting where they discussed the possibility of training civil servants of Arab countries in the Academy's advanced vocational training programs, as well as organizing on-site educational modules for civil servants of the Russian Federation in countries of the Arab world.
The Ambassador, in turn, expressed interest in holding cultural and educational events in Arabic at the Academy, in particular dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Arab League in 2025.
The Presidential Academy implements a number of educational programs that include the study of the Arabic language: bachelor's degree in "Foreign Regional Studies" and "International Relations" in Moscow and a branch in St. Petersburg, master's degree in "Foreign Regional Studies".
At the Academy Lyceum in Moscow in 2022 the direction of “Arabic studies” was opened with an international political profile. In addition to in-depth study of the Arabic language, the focus of this educational program is regional studies of the Arab East, the foundations of Islam, modern art of the East, and recent political history.
During the visit, the Ambassador gave a lecture to students of the Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service studying Arabic in the areas of foreign regional studies and state and municipal administration, as well as lyceum students of the Presidential Academy, during which the speaker spoke about the features of interaction between the League of Arab States and Russia and the rapid development of BRICS+ countries.
“The Presidential Academy is interested in developing relationships in the field of education and science with educational organizations of Arab countries that are members of the League of Arab States,” noted Alexey Komissarov.
In 2024, the Presidential Academy organized week-long internships in the United Arab Emirates for IPACS students studying Arabic.
