• Submit a set of documents
• Look into the list of institutes, departments, academic personnel to choose a PhD advisor
• Selection process among those who have submitted documents to prepare a thesis without enrolment (a Committee conducts the selection within 30 days from the date of the documents submission and notifies the chosen applicant of the decision taken and recorded in the minutes of the Committee)
• Sign a contract between the applicant and the Academy (within 10 days after the Commission meeting)
• Issuance of an administrative act on the applicant, which shall be published within 3 days on the Academy’s website. The applicant shall be notified within 5 working days after the issuance of the publication of the act
• Pass qualifying examinations in the history and philosophy of science, foreign language and specialty field during sessions in February and May of the academic year
• Submit the thesis to the PhD advisor and to the department for discussion and assessment of its completeness for defense

For those who have a completed thesis prepared at another university or scientific organization which received their positive conclusion, the Academy provides the opportunity to defend it in accordance with the rights granted to it. In this case, such persons may contact the Thesis Defense Department of the Directorate of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies.
