“A great place:” Summer Campus participants talk about their first impressions

Even on their first day, all participants of the International Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy immediately felt the vibrancy and positivity of one of the most exciting events of the summer. Some of them were happy to formulate and share their first impressions.

Li Xintong, China, University of International Relations and Economics:

RANEPA International Summer Campus is a good opportunity for me to find friends from all over the world. I like my team; my teammates are intelligent and creative. We have helped each other and have been through some difficulties together. I want to get more communication experience to improve my English here, and I want to have a good and productive time during my holidays in Russia.

Zayyad Bakeko Sani, Nigeria, St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University:

I like the Summer Campus, but so far I have a language barrier. I am in a Russian-language program, so it is difficult for me to understand English. I want to meet new people, gain experience and new knowledge. I am very lucky with my team – it is very friendly and cool!

Gaukhar Zokirova, Uzbekistan, Kazan Federal University:

I am studying Tourism. I am very happy to be at this Summer Campus. I have no words. The reality has surpassed my wildest expectations. My main goals here are to meet new interesting people, and also to remember this summer for a lifetime. I was worried that I would not be able to join the team immediately, but the people here are so sociable and friendly. I think it will be sad to leave.

Linda Dei-Awuku, Taiwan:

I hope that the Summer Campus will help me develop my communication skills in English. I would like to meet people from all over the world here. The reality is better than my expectations.

Roberto Chavez Rodriguez, Bolivia:

I already like it very much; everything is so cool here. I have met very good people during teambuilding. They know things I need to learn, and what tasks and skills are needed to achieve goals. They know things that I definitely need.

Yulia Belova, Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering:

RANEPA Summer Campus is my first experience of participating in an international project. It is very interesting to try something new. So far, I still have trouble believing that I am here. It has not fully sunk in. And I am in anticipation of what will happen next. According to other participants and tutors, we will have very little sleep, but we are looking forward to a lot of interesting things, and I really want to experience it all.

Darya Zyurnina, Kazan, Kazan Federal University:

I really appreciate the organizers’ efforts to create the most comfortable conditions for the participants. One of my goals here is for my team to win. I am very lucky with the team; we immediately had an excellent relationship. My English has become kind of lame over the last few years, and I was worried that I would not be able to express all my thoughts. But the atmosphere here is so pleasant and positive that these fears are gone. I am very glad that students from Tatarstan can attend such an exciting event. Thank you, my beloved Tatarstan, for this opportunity!

Tatyana Devina, Moscow, RANEPA:

We are having so much fun. And more than that – the event is so well planned, and everything is structured perfectly, loud and simple. We quickly checked in and ate, and everything was explained and shown, and then we had teambuilding – everything was properly organized. The teambuilding was done in a friendly manner, and helped me get to know the others, and understand each other.

Ruslan Zhangirov, Tolyatti, Kazan Federal University:

The Summer Campus is a great place, and the nature here is amazing. All the people are funny, there are a lot of foreigners, and everyone is constantly smiling, I don’t know why, we don’t have anything like this in Tolyatti, and people help each other.

Maria Zakharova, Moscow, RANEPA:

Initially, I expected something completely different. Here everything is so well organized, we all are a close-knit team, and everyone is friendly and cheerful. We laugh all the time – it's great.

Aigul Zabbarova, Kazan, Kazan Federal University:

I think that at this Summer Campus I can develop my communication skills, and learn how to work in a team. I liked everything on the first day, especially the organization. I think that people here are very responsible.

Anastasia Proshchenkova, Moscow, RANEPA:

There are a lot of people from around the world, which is great. Everything is very bright, I mean both in terms of the agenda and the cultural diversity. We have such a rich program. My first impressions are very positive.

Alina Ermish, Barnaul:

The Summer Campus is so well organized that it cannot compare with many other events. I liked what the presenter said, about not being afraid of making mistakes or thinking about time, but just speaking, trying to spell out our thoughts. Last year I was on an international forum and I was afraid to speak, but here I am trying to convey my ideas by all means. We have an international team, and there are a lot of people who know how to dance, sing and play musical instruments. We are already thinking about applying for the talent show.
