Directors of museums and leading restaurateurs will speak at RANEPA Summer Campus
The participants of the 7th RANEPA International Summer Campus will be able to learn about the museum business from experts Yelizaveta Fokina, Bjorn Stenvers, Artyom Silkin and Yelena Tsvetkova; restaurant business sessions will be led by President of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Igor Bukharov and Vice-President Vladimir Bakanov.
Yelizaveta Fokina, Director General of the Tsaritsyno state historical, architectural, art and landscape museum-reserve, will speak about the museum business context, goals and strategies using Tsaritsyno as an example. She took over as director in April 2016 after heading the Exhibition Halls of Moscow association for two and a half years.
Bjorn Stenvers, Executive Director of UNESCO’s ICOM Endowment Fund, will head the group of Summer Campus tutors and give a lecture on the museum business. At the previous Campus, Mr. Stenvers discussed with the students the culture and progressive value guidelines of the 21st century, and gave them useful tips on promoting cultural projects. In 2013, Mr. Stenvers started a project to establish the foundation of the Official Museums of Amsterdam. He also founded several museum academies to train museum staff in Amsterdam, Rostov, Aruba, the Altai Republic and Moscow. Until 2012, Mr. Stenvers worked as a marketing director for the Museum of the History of Amsterdam Foundation.
Artyom Silkin, Director of the Island of Sviyazhsk museum-reserve, will tell about the development of the Tchaikovsky museum. As the operator of Night of Museums at the Gorky museum in Kazan in 2005-2009, Silkin made it one of the most visited youth events. In 2010, he took over as the director of the Island of Sviyazhsk, where he co-authored the concepts of several displays: the Sviyazhsk History Museum, the Museum of the Civil War, the Museum of Artist Gennady Arkhireyev, and Skazka Children's Leisure Center. He is also the author or co-author of several museum concepts: the Museum of the Archaeological Tree, the Museum of Orthodox Culture, the Museum of Orthodox Art, the River Museum, and the Museum of River Piracy, as well as over 50 exhibition projects.
Director for Development at the Grand Maket Rossiya Museum Yelena Tsvetkova will explain to the participants how to open a museum. Grand Maket Rossiya is a model layout covering the territory of our country from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, dynamic and realistic due to the hundreds of moving trains and vehicles, light and sound effects, and tens of thousands of miniature figures that make up genre scenes. The museum opened to a wide audience in June 2012. For an in-depth perception of the display, visitors can rent audio guides; the recorded texts are for all age groups.
The representatives of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers (FRIO) will talk about the restaurant and hotel business. The President of the Federation, Dean of the Faculty of Hotel and Restaurant Business at RANEPA IIM Igor Bukharov, has gained extensive experience in this field since he became a restaurateur in 1994.
