Disney Shared the Experience of Movie Promotion
From 15 to 26 July the educational project RANEPA Summer Campus is held for 220 students from different countries. The workshop was conducted by Elena Brodskaya, Vice President, Disney Film Marketing in Russia and the CIS.
An unusual lesson was devoted to studying of the marketing of the film industry. All participants were keen and able to try themselves in a new field actively offering ideas to promote movies.
Elena Brodskaya chose an interactive format of the workshop and truly interested the audience. First, she explained the specifics of the three selected animated films – "Nutcracker", "Mary Poppins" and "The Lion King" – and gave the task.
In this workshop the students chose the closest in spirit movie to work with. The team tried to correctly determine its audience. It was important to find an approach to prospective viewers in terms of marketing campaign. The participants combined their ideas in the form of a poster or presentation, and then presented their solutions to other teams.
Aigul Nurullina, a student from Kazan, noted the effectiveness of the selected format of the event: "Our team was divided into several parts, each of which was responsible for a certain amount of work. Thus, everyone was heard and we were all able to express ourselves. In my opinion, classes with Elena Brodskaya went in the most productive way – first we heard an introductory lecture, and then we were able to put new knowledge into practice. Moreover, the cases we resolved were creative and interesting, so the work was easy.”
