Head of RANEPA Board of Trustees Sergei Naryshkin congratulates winners of the Student of the Year Award
On November 24, RANEPA hosted the awards ceremony for the winners of the Student of the Year contest. The competition has already become a tradition at the Presidential Academy: this year it was held for the sixth time. More than 1,500 students of the Moscow campus and RANEPA branches had applied to participate.
The honorable title was awarded to 30 RANEPA students. Most of them won the title by showing more than just excellent academic results; they contributed in their school’s research projects and actively participated in its social life. The Dean's office of each RANEPA division considered the applications and chose two or three champions; ten students of the Moscow campus and 20 from regional branches were shortlisted for the award.
According to tradition, the award ceremony was attended by Chairman of the RANEPA Board of Trustees, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin. He congratulated the finalists and handed each winner a certificate of merit. Each of them will also receive a special scholarship from the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Naryshkin congratulated the winners of the Student of the Year title. RANEPA Vice-Rector Ivan Fedotov opened the awards ceremony, saying in his opening remarks that the Academy is proud of its students. “Hiring experienced professors is easy. It is a far more difficult task for a university to foster good students. We are very pleased that you took part in this competition, that you won, and now you are ready to move on. Congratulations,” he said.
Mr. Naryshkin stressed that he gladly accepted the invitation from RANEPA leadership to take part in the ceremony. “Your victory in the competition means a lot,” he told them. “It is not only about succeeding in your main school activities, but also about having remarkable results in your school’s social life and sport – all of that contributes to your business reputation.” RANEPA graduates have shown good results in business, scientific research and public administration, he said. “I am sure that you have chosen the right school, a necessary step in your future professional career.”
