IIM students practice Italian
Students of the RANEPA Institute of Industry Management (IIM) have developed a concept of popularizing the Italian language at the Academy.
Pierpaolo Bettoni, a teacher and methodologist at Loescher Editore, an Italian publishing house, has conducted a workshop at IIM, where third-year students developed two projects to draw attention to the Italian language among the first-year students who will soon have to choose a second foreign language to study. The invited lecturer explained how to plan and produce a video with a limited budget, and also showed a video of the best Italian advertising company, Barilla.
During the workshop, he assigned film crew and cast roles to the students, giving them a chance to immerse themselves in the process of filmmaking. The participants filmed and edited two commercials according to the developed concepts to promote the Italian language.
At the end of the workshop, on behalf of the Loescher Editore publisher, Bettoni invited the students to participate in online classes with invited native speakers in the next semester.
The students also participated in the organization of the 5th Russia-Italia Film Festival (RIFF) as volunteers.
The festival is held under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Russia, the Luce Institute and FilmItalia. It brings together representatives of Italian consulates and embassies, authors of textbooks on the Italian language, representatives of large publishing houses and companies cooperating with Italy, as well as just fans of Italian cinema.
The IIM students welcomed the festival guests, assisted in organizing activities and product presentations of the festival partners. The volunteers got invaluable experience of working with guests as well as a chance to apply the knowledge gained in their Italian classes at the Academy – Italian was naturally spoken at the festival at every corner.
