Impact investing: A new look at business (VIDEO)
On July 20, Olga Sorokina, board member and PR director of the Russian Impact Investors’ Association, conducted an interactive game with the participants of RANEPA International Summer Campus, Impact investing: A new look at business.
Olga Sorokina succinctly told the students about the impact business. Impact in this context is a measurable social or environmental effect generated by a commercial company. According to Olga Sorokina, an impact investor makes money on profitable projects while at the same time contributing to improving the quality of life in the world; this way companies can boost their reputations in the Russian and global markets. After a short introductory lecture, all the 12 teams sat down at the tables to play an interactive business game moderated by the speaker.
She simulated the conditions in which players were to make business decisions. The teams were completely immersed in the game, feeling emotionally involved and genuinely concerned for their decisions, and interested in seeing the consequences of their actions. The participants were given points for each task. At the end of the game, Olga Sorokina summed up the results and announced the FLEXERS team the winner.
The International Summer Campus of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) is a unique annual educational project for best students of Russian and foreign universities. The Campus curriculum comprises lectures and interactive sessions with leading Russian and foreign academics, government employees and world-class business executives.
