International Building Challenge results
The third annual International Building Challenge, a multidisciplinary student workshop, took place from April 29 to May 7, organized with the participation of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
This year, the International Building Challenge contestants – 67 students from several universities specializing in various areas – were to work out concepts of development of the Pyotr Tchaikovsky State Museum Reserve grounds.
The students were divided into five mixed teams; each team was to submit a project for the Pyotr Tchaikovsky State Museum Reserve grounds development.
Each team presented their work to a professional international jury. They proposed architectural, development, and design concepts for one of the central parts of the town of Klin: Demyanovo and Maidanovo, and a site in the suburb of Frolovskoye. All of these properties are associated with the names of great figures in Russian culture and science: Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Vladimir Taneyev, Viktor Vasnetsov and Kliment Timiryazev.
After a discussion, the jury named the winner – the Space of View team led by RANEPA student Valentin Skoropupov. The team also included Irina Apolyar (RANEPA); Karina Valerdzhan, Arseniy Korolyov and Anastasia Stolyarova of the Institute of Business and Design; Ramzil Dimmukhametov (Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering); Viktoria Zaraiskaya, Marina Prokhorova and Fyodor Torgashev of the Moscow Institute of Architecture; and Lyubov Voronina and Oksana Tikhonova from MPEI.
