Lecture about cybersecurity at RANEPA Summer Campus
On July 10 at RANEPA Summer Campus Arina Pazushko, BI.ZONE International Relations Manager, told about cyber crime and cybersecurity. BI.ZONE company investigates cyber crime and offers services for protection of assets and business reputation in the Internet.
The lecturer defined a cyber crime as any crime committed using computers and the Internet. Crimes in the sphere of information technologies pose threat to many life aspects.
First of all, it poses threat to private security, in particular, to security of personal data. Thus, if a user leaves his personal data on any unverified website, cyber criminals may use it for their own purposes.
Secondly, national security. Any sphere of life can be under threat – from transport to oil and gas industry. For example, in the UK the WannaCry virus attack shut down the entire health care system.
Financial state of companies and users: hackers steal money from accounts of banks and companies.
Arina Pazushko gave a brief overview of the history of crimes in sphere of information technologies, and described the main types of cyber criminals.
