Maxim Oreshkin visits RANEPA Summer Campus (VIDEO)
On the evening of Saturday, July 13, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin visited the 8th International Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy. His meeting with the students included a question and answer session on Russian economic policy and the international situation.
The Minister began the meeting with a brief discussion of Russia’s economic development. Over the past decade, life in Russia has changed for the better, the Republic of Tatarstan being an excellent example of the positive economic dynamics in Russia and one of the leading and innovative regions. To stimulate economic growth, the government is working on creating a comfortable environment for innovation and new ideas, something the young and talented participants of RANEPA Summer Campus are expected to come up with, among other things, Maxim Oreshkin said.
He went on to explain some of the global trends. One of the key stories widely discussed last year was the economic confrontation between the USA and China. Over the past 15 years, China has created a unique system of economic development. It is developing its own companies that can rival the key US giants – and these companies have become quite successful. According to Maxim Oreshkin, to be able to enter this economic competition, Russia needs to join forces with the European Union.
Maxim Oreshkin explained to the students that they can always achieve everything themselves; all they need to do is set the right goals and work to attain them. “Everything depends on you,” he stressed. The government’s job in relation to business is to reduce administrative barriers. The minister discussed with the campus participants the digital development of our country, the problems and prospects of domestic GDP, and fiscal policy. According to the minister, in the coming years, Russia's tax system will not change. They also talked about the anti-Russia sanctions.
“Very lively young people, interesting questions. It is clear that there is a very good atmosphere here, and not only that – there’s learning and communication going on. But I think the most important thing is that they are having a good time and will remember this Summer Campus for a long time. I wish them good luck. Rely on yourselves and move forward!” Maxim Oreshkin said.
