RANEPA delegation visits Vietnamese universities
During the five-day visit, members of the RANEPA delegation led by Rector Vladimir Mau took part in the First Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese Universities and visited several universities in Vietnam.
The delegation of the Presidential Academy included Vice-Rector Maxim Nazarov, Director for Development of International Education and Cooperation Larisa Taradina, and Deputy Director of RANEPA Institute for Law and National Security (ILNS) Alevtina Shevchenko. The visit program was organized with the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi.
The First Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese Universities was held at the National Economics University (NEU) in Hanoi, where Vladimir Mau delivered a report on the Outlines of New Scientific and Educational Cooperation emphasizing the importance of strengthening strategic trade and economic partnership as well as cultural, research and educational ties. The RANEPA Rector also noted the importance of building partnerships based on the proximity of priorities, which is facilitated by the historical roots of Russian-Vietnamese relations.
The delegation met with the deputy head of the Vietnam People's Security Academy, Dr. Le Minh Hung, to discuss training issues as part of joint Master’s programs in jurisprudence, as well as organization of joint scientific conferences. At the National Academy of Public Administration of Vietnam (NAPA), Vladimir Mau discussed with NAPA President Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan the development of cooperation under the existing memorandum of understanding. During the meeting, agreements were reached on joint research and educational programs and projects.
The RANEPA officials also met with Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha. Agreements were reached on cooperation in the training and advanced training of managerial personnel for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the organization of joint conferences and seminars.
The RANEPA delegation visited the Hanoi Law University, where they met with Acting Rector Dr. Tran Quang Huy and deans of all the departments of the university. The parties discussed areas of cooperation under the current agreement between the educational institutions, as well as new forms of partnership.
Earlier, the Presidential Academy had signed cooperation agreements with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Hanoi University of Law and National Academy of Public Administration. During the meetings, agreements were reached on cooperation in the training and advanced training of managerial personnel for Vietnam, the implementation of joint research and educational programs and projects, and participation in scientific conferences.
Overall, RANEPA has trained about 1,000 Vietnamese citizens (starting with the Academy of Social Sciences under the CPSU Central Committee). One of its graduates is Nguyen Phu Trong, President of Vietnam and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1978-1991). At present, there are students from Vietnam in the Moscow campus of RANEPA, as well as in its St. Petersburg, Volgograd, and Khabarovsk branches. As many as 6,000 Vietnamese are studying in Russia.
