RANEPA expert took part in the Industrial Parks Development Discussion
On September 5, Stepan Zemtsov, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IAER) of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), spoke at the GTI Policy Dialogue on Industrial Parks in Changchun, Jilin Province, China.
An expert from the Presidential Academy has made a presentation on the development of industrial parks in Russia, outlining areas for possible cooperation. The Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI) is an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism between China, the Russian Federation, Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The main goal of RTI is making mainland Northeast Asia a more attractive destination for international investment, trade and business.
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the leadership of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the leadership of Mongolia’s Customs Service, representatives of the South Korean Chamber of Commerce, heads of the Jilin Province of China took part in the discussion of each other’s experience in developing industrial parks in the RTI countries.
During the discussion, the experts agreed that industrial parks are one of the fastest growing sectors in Russia and other RTI countries. These parks are instruments of regional development and diversification. The experts also noted the great potential of international cooperation in the development of cross-border economic zones.
