The Presidential Academy has hosted the second intercollegiate Chinese poetry recital competition organized by the Department of Oriental Languages at RANEPA Institute of Business Studies (IBS).

The competition was dedicated to two important events. On October 1, 2019, the People's Republic of China marked its 70th anniversary, and October 2 marked 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The opening of the competition was attended by RANEPA Vice-Rector, Director of IBS Moscow Sergei Myasoyedov, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Russia Cao Shihai, as well as a visiting member of the jury – Professor Liu Juan, Director of the Russian Research Center of Beijing Normal University. All the speakers noted the importance of developing and strengthening Russian-Chinese relations, which are currently at an unprecedented high level, and wished the participants success.

The jury included Professor Liu Juan, Director of the RSUH Confucius Institute Zhang Rui, other Directors of Confucius Institutes in Moscow, Associate Professor at the Chinese Language Department of the Moscow State University Olga Mashkina, and Oleg Popov, Associate Professor of Moscow State Linguistic University. This year, the contestants were divided into three age categories – high school (10-11 grades), first and second year university students and third and fourth-years.

All IBS Moscow students participating in the competition have won prizes. First-year Anastasia Avdoshina, who debuted in the competition last year while still at school, took third place in her new category with ‘Temple of Yujinshan’ by Su Shi. Second-year students Polina Nesterova and Roman Moiseyenko, took second place in the same category with “Crimson China.’ Senior students were equally good: third-year Darya Petrova with Bai Juyi’s ‘Song of Everlasting Sorrow,’ and fourth-year Aliya Safina with ‘Believe in the Future’ by Guo Lusheng won third places in their category.

We congratulate the winners and wish them new success!
