RANEPA professors take part in international conference sponsored by the President of Greece
On November 5, RANEPA faculty took part in the international conference, The Influence of Greek Philosophy on the Development of Law in Europe and Russia, organized by RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security (ILNS) and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) in Athens (Greece).
Valery Smirnov, head of the department for international cooperation and foreign students at RANEPA ILNS, Special Representative of the EPLO in Russia, CIS and EAEU, delivered a welcoming message from RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau. “The mission of this conference was announced by Rector Vladimir Mau during the Gaidar Forum in January this year, at a meeting with the President of Greece, who is a well-known European specialist in constitutional law. He was happy to support the initiative. The fact that the Greek head of state not only supports, but personally attends the conference confirms the importance of today's event for RANEPA and for Greek society,” Mr. Smirnov said.
In his address to the conference, Prokopis Pavlopoulos stressed the particular importance of the year 2016 and the historical importance of this conference. The President noted that the ancient Greek philosophy has laid the foundation for the development of the Roman and European law, as well as the fundamental principles and norms of modern law. He noted the high level of the conference, wished the participants success in their work and expressed hope for further cooperation in education and research.
