On May 28, 2021, RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Russia Deborah Bronnert. Vice-Rector Dmitry Butashin and Second Secretary at the Embassy Mark Diamond also attended the meeting.
The parties discussed various aspects of the pandemic’s impact on the global economy and academic affairs. Russian-British relations in vocational education, the Academy’s cooperation with UK universities, and educational institutions’ development strategies in the modern world received considerable attention during the conversation.
The Presidential Academy is interested in expanding its cooperation formats with educational and research centers in the UK. RANEPA has extensive experience in cooperating with leading universities and business schools in the UK including academic mobility, joint educational programs and holding conferences and other events. The Presidential Academy’s partners include Kingston University, which is its oldest British partner, as well as Cambridge University, London Business School, Bath Spa University, University of London, Manchester University, Coventry University and others.
The parties placed a special emphasis on RANEPA’s cooperation with the University of London on programs in the field of law, logistics and data science. Data science is a strategically important area for the Academy. Although the programs were launched during a difficult period because of the pandemic, the parties agreed it was a very promising area for cooperation.
They agreed during the meeting that after the pandemic ends, they will continue the tradition of holding graduation ceremonies and presenting diplomas to graduates of the joint RANEPA/Kingston program at a reception at the British Embassy.
