Role of the Legal System in Sustainable Social and Economic Development
The panel discussion Role of the Legal System in Sustainable Social and Economic Development was held at the Gaidar Forum 2017. As the participants themselves noted, this subject was repeatedly raised at round tables, but this time the decision was taken to consider it from another angle. The moderators of the discussion were Stanislav Mogilevsky, Director, the Institute of Law and National Security, RANEPA, and Alexander Radygin, Dean, the Economic Faculty, RANEPA.
The key subject of the report by Revold Entov, Chief Research Fellow, research area Macroeconomics and Finances, the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, was the legal regulation of private property in Russia. The Academician has deeply researched the matter and found the origins of the problems in the legal reforms carried out in our country for many decades. Why was so much attention paid to discussing this problem? According to Revold Entov, the compliance with the law on the protection of the ownership rights, whether private or public, is the key to strong economic indicators. Unfortunately, currently, in many respects, ‘Russian financial markets are in a weakened condition’ and the unstable legal system just exacerbates this situation.
