Sergei Myasoyedov reelected to AACSB International Board of Directors
RANEPA Vice-Rector, Director of RANEPA Institute of Business Studies, President of RABE Sergei Myasoyedov has been approved to serve on the board of directors of AACSB International for another three years. He is the first representative of Russia approved for this position.
The decision was made by the co-chairs of the AACSB International board based on Dr. Myasoedov’s contribution to the development of business education in Russia and to international cooperation.
The role and recognition of the world’s leading accreditation associations has increased significantly in recent years. This association includes hundreds of business schools around the world. However, only the most prominent and influential experts of the business education community get elected to the international boards of directors. These experts’ contributions to the development of the national system of business and management education and their international influence have to be widely recognized both in their countries and beyond.
The International Board of Directors of AACSB International includes, along with representatives of dozens of leading business schools in the United States and RANEPA Vice-Rector:
- President of the International Institute for Management Development - IMD (Lausanne), currently considered the best in the world for conducting programs and trainings for the top echelon of the largest companies, Professor Jean Francois Manzoni;
- Dean of the INSEAD (Fontainebleau) business school Professor Ilian Mihov;
- Dean, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (established two decades ago on the model and with the support of Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania)), a recognized leader in the study and dissemination of the Asian Management Model Professor Gerard George;
- Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam Professor Han Gert van Dissel;
- Senior Partner and Audit Innovation Leader at KPMG US Shaun L. Budnik; and others.
Sergei Myasoyedov is the Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of Russia’s National Board of Business Education Quality Assessment (NASDOBR), which contributes to the development of the quality system of business education in Russia. NASDOBR is focused on creating an objective and independent system for assessing the quality of business and management education in our country. Its work has already resulted in the development of the professional assessment of the quality of various levels of management education (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, MBA, advanced training, etc.). NASDOBR has developed a standard for assessing the quality of work of professional trainers; 13 MBA programs at leading business schools in Russia have been accredited. A pool of independent experts has been created to participate in the state accreditation of higher professional education programs in management disciplines and much more.
A business school that positions itself as a leader should always have recognized international accreditations. Among the hundreds of available accreditations, only three known as the Triple Crown are considered the most prestigious: AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Tampa, Florida, USA), EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development, Brussels), AMBA International (Association of MBAs, London). Only 84 out of more than 17,000 business schools worldwide had full Triple Crown accreditation in 2017.
AACSB International is the world’s largest and most respectable association of business schools. Established at the beginning of the last century, it now has about 2,000 members. AACSB International has headquarters in five regions including Europe. AACSB accreditation is considered the world’s most honorable and difficult to obtain and actually tops the recognized global system of Triple Crown accreditations. The Association pays special attention to how clearly the mission of the business school is formulated; its goals; and its sustainable strategic development. This explains that, in contrast to other accreditations of the Triple Crown system, AACSB International accreditation takes 5-7 years rather than 2-3 days.
AACSB’s mission is to connect the world's leading business schools, accelerate innovation, and improve the quality of management education programs. These goals are combined with its accreditation standards for business schools. AACSB works to constantly improve the interaction between society, business, educators and students so that business education would meet the needs of business practice and promote graduates’ career growth. According to AACSB, the development of the social responsibility of business, its interaction with public associations aimed at improving the quality and practical orientation of educational activities, and close interaction with the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education organization (PRME) are the most important tasks of business education and business schools.
RANEPA Institute of Business Studies (IBS) headed by Sergei Myasoyedov was the first Russian business school to sign the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education in 2008.
Professor Sergei Myasoyedov, Doctor of Sociology, is President of the Russian Association of Business Education (RABE), Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Board of Business Education Quality Assessment (NASDOBR), and Chairman of the Expert Council for the Presidential Program under the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation. He was awarded the Russian Government Prize for education in 2011; the Merited Worker of the Higher Education of the Russian Federation title in 2013; and an Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2012.
Sergei Myasoyedov has completed professional growth and retraining programs at Durham University Business School (UK), Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and Harvard Business School (USA). He is a founder of the School of International Business at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (1988). He has been Director of the Institute of Business Studies of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) since 1996 and RANEPA Vice-Rector since 2010.
“Being elected to the International Board of Directors of AACSB International is not only an honorable and serious milestone in my professional and expert career,” Dr. Myasoyedov said. “To a much greater extent, this is a recognition of the growing role of business and management education in our country; an appreciation of the successes and achievements of the brilliant team of practicing educators and employees of Russia’s leading business school, RANEPA IBS, which has been the leader of Russian business education for 30 years; and an example of successful cooperation with the business community of Russia and the world.”
