Sofya Trotsenko and Amir Sarakov elected to Civic Chamber of Moscow
The city of Moscow has formed its third Civic Chamber, which now includesSofya Trotsenko, Director of the Design School of RANEPA Institute for Social Sciences (ISS) and Amir Sarakov, fifth-year student of RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security (ILNS), chairman of the Moscow city regional branch of RUY Association of Students and Student Associations.
The third Civic Chamber of Moscow is comprised of 45 members. Thirty public activists who were initially approved by the Moscow City Duma and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin then elected another 15 members. The new members come from various spheres of public life, nominated by Moscow-registered non-profit organizations implementing charitable, socio-cultural, research, educational, sports, and managerial programs. The candidates were introduced to the members who then received their ballots and voted. The Civic Chamber of Moscow will become a political space where strategies and trends for the city’s further development will be forged in real time.
The newly elected members are to attend their first general meeting by the end of April, to elect their chair and deputy chair, form commissions, and work out an action plan for the nearest period. The second Civic Chamber’s term expires on April 20.
