Student from the Presidential Academy presents gamification platform at SberBank
A third-year student from RANEPA Institute of Economics, Mathematics and Information Technologies (EMIT), Artur Kerimov, presented a gamification design platform, GamEDwork, as part of Sber youth accelerators’ Demo Day.
SberBank's Demo Day, held by its youth accelerator programs, provides a platform for schoolchildren and students to present their projects to investors and entrepreneurs. This year, over 26,000 students from 85 Russian regions took part in two qualifying rounds. The top 20 teams showcased their startups in the finals.
Artur Kerimov presented a design platform for professors to implement gamification for teaching purposes while using any educational content they need to include. He believes gamification can increase student engagement during online classes and keep them focused throughout the lesson.
“With GamEDwork, a teacher can prepare for a lesson in just 30 minutes by using our proprietary techniques, templates and guides. Our platform will also make gamification cheaper and accessible to anyone,” Artur Kerimov said.
The platform includes a game designer for quick and easy creation of educational material; it features templates for using ready-made gamification-enabled solutions, as well as tooltips and guides for new users. The project allows adaptive subscription fees, which change depending on the number of students and the required functionality. Three other people besides Artur are developing the GamEDwork platform.
Maxim Mikheyenko, a Russian entrepreneur and investor, Senior Vice President and co-founder of 5518 Studios, a 2D and 3D graphics company, has already shown an investment interest in the project.
“I really liked Artur's presentation. I will definitely meet with him and his team. This project perfectly reflects the lifelong learning concept. This is new generation technology, with new capabilities,” said Sergey Myasoedov, RANEPA vice-rector, Director of the Institute of Business Studies (IBS), who is a member of the competition jury.
