Summer Campus participants study G20 goals (VIDEO)
On July 17, Paul Revay, a member of the Board of Trustees of Friends of Europe, delivered a lecture at the 8th RANEPA International Summer Campus, “Will the G20 remain the main forum of international economic cooperation: The lessons learned and what will happen after the Osaka summit in 2019.”
Paul Revay joined the Board of Trustees of Friends of Europe, a think-and-do-tank in Brussels, after having served at the Trilateral Commission private international organization as its European Director from 1981 to 2017. He was actively engaged from 1996 to 2017 with the Lisbon-based Fundaçao Oriente organizing its annual Arrabida Meetings.
Paul Revay told the participants about the G20 as a necessary element of the global economy. The speaker believes that the main forum for international economic cooperation has its flaws, but nonetheless provides political leadership in such global economic issues as international taxes, financial regulation and international financial institutions. In today's unstable world, the G20 is the best tool of coordinating the actions of the international community in response to global economic and financial crises. The G20 can also play an important role in countering the growing anti-globalization sentiment, he said.
