TEDxRANEPA Conference to be held in RANEPA (LIVE BROADCAST)
On May 18, 2019, an officially accredited TEDx shall take place in the Presidential Academy. The event shall bring together the strongest Russian speakers from various fields of science and culture.
The TED conference emerged in 1984 as a platform for exchange of ideas in a vital and inspiring format: the speech by each speaker is like a one-man performance, rather than a lecture. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, i.e. three huge areas that, according to the creators, define what the future will look like. Today, TED has denied any constraints and explores all topics: from science to business, from arts to global problems of the humanity. This is a really unbounded flow of Ideas Worth Spreading. The magic of TED brings together millions of people all over the world, giving them inspiration and new big thoughts. Video records of such speeches are posted free of charge on the website TED.com and get millions of views.
In different times, TED speakers were such people, as Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The annual TED conference takes place in Long Beach, California and is broadcasted simultaneously in Palm Springs; the global TEDGlobal meeting is held yearly in Edinburg, UK.
TEDx conferences are subsidiary to the major TED, are held in the spirit of mission Ideas Worth Spreading under the general supervision of TED, but are organized by local communities (cities and largest universities). In acronym TEDx, х means an independently organized event. The purpose is to give an opportunity to communities, organizations and individual TED followers to promote communication and spreading of ideas all around the world.
Procedure of TEDxRANEPA event fully complies with TED requirements. Each speech lasts for no more than 18 minutes and is devoted to an idea that can ‘make a difference in this world’. The range of speech topics is the widest, from problems of modern economy to glossophobia, from structure of nuclear systems to medieval arts. The only restriction is that speakers may not touch issues of politics and religion.
Speakers of the conference include Alexander Asmolov, Director for Humanitarian Policy, RANEPA; Tatiana Chernigovskaya, Head of the Laboratory for Cognitive Studies and of the Department of the Problems of Convergence in Natural Sciences and Humanities, St. Petersburg State University; Konstantin Bogomolov, Stage and Film Director and others.
