Transformations of modern companies became the topic of discussion at the Gaidar Forum (VIDEO)
On January 16, within the framework of the anniversary Gaidar Forum, an expert discussion was held on the topic: “System Programs for Transforming Modern Companies: The Role of Training and Development”, at which they examined issues and tasks of training and development in the process of changes in the company.
The section was moderated by Vladimir Solovyev, founder and managing partner of EVERYCO, and Mark Kukushkin, senior partner of Training-Boutique, partner of Best T & D Group and Assessment Systems Russia.
Experts immediately identified three main issues of discussion: “What can training and development bring to the transformation of modern companies?”; “What are efficient staff training programs?”; “Which partners should be involved in personnel training systems and why?”. Important topics also included:
- the participation of top managers of companies in the processes of training and development,
- approaches to working with personnel for the implementation of transformation processes in large companies,
- the role of top teams in the implementation of transformation programs.
Mark Kukushkin started the section with a question for the audience: “What kind of associations do you have with the word “transformation”?” The listeners' answers turned out to be similar. The most frequent association is “changes.”
The first to make a presentation was the director of the University of Bank of Russia Andrey Afonin. He showed the audience the ECLF Organizing for Transformation charts (data from 75 large corporations for September 2018 were used). The speaker commented on the results of the study: “It is pleasing that the importance of the training and development function in corporations is increasing.” Andrey Afonin also noted the basic blocks of the transformation scenario in the Bank of Russia and highlighted: requirements for the Bank of Russia; challenges for the Bank of Russia – external and internal; image of the future Bank of Russia.
Natalia Ionova, Vice-President for Human Resources at Evraz Group, joined the discussion and expressed her expert opinion: “Training and development are united by business objectives and cannot exist without projects. Training should take place not in the form of lectures and seminars, but in the form of practical cases.”
Tatyana Terentyeva, HR Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, agreed with the views expressed earlier and added to Natalia Ionova’s point: “Training should serve business. It is necessary to quickly develop staff competencies.” The speaker highlighted the main priority of the task of training leaders among staff at all levels and training employees to work in new conditions. Tatyana Terentyeva also noted the relevance of digital solutions in this area.
In conclusion, Vladimir Solovyov invited the audience to independently write conclusions and insights from the discussion.
