Two books by RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau presented at International Non/Fiction Book Fair

On December 3, two books authored by RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau were presented at the 18th International Book Fair Non/Fiction 2016, where best literary novelties from 18 countries were promoted.

The new editions of Vladimir Mau’s books on economic reforms in our country were released by RANEPA’s Delo Publishing House. Before the presentation, the rector thanked RANEPA publishing for the idea to release a book combining four previous editions, and spoke about the publications.

One of the books, Economy and Power: Experience of Post-Communist Transformation, is devoted to the economic and political problems in Russia. It discusses the interrelation and mutual influence of economic and political problems that have emerged during Perestroika and after the collapse of the Soviet system. The book includes one of the first studies of the constitutional economics problems as applied to modern Russia. The legal issues of Russian economic reforms are analyzed based on the experience of developed and emerging economies.

The State and the Economy: Experience of Economic Reform investigates economic policy and the role of government regulation in Russia and the Soviet Union from the middle of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century. The book covers the history of the Russian and Soviet economy and economic policy in the first thirty years of the 20th century. The book further describes the deep crisis that plagued the research sector with the Soviet the administrative system and reprisals against prominent economists. The author analyses the theory of planned economy, the correlation between the political economy perspective and the economic mechanism concepts.

Dr. Mau told the audience about the preparation of the books and their content, and answered questions.

The presentation was organized by RANEPA Public Relations Center supported by the Delo Publishing House, as a promotional event of the RANEPA Book Club – a project aimed at attracting the attention of experts, the public and the media to most interesting books released by RANEPA.
