Vladirmir Mau speaks at the Terra Scientia forum
On July 30 RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau served as an expert during a panel discussion at the Terra Scientia Russian Educational Youth Forum. Participants discussed the prospects for the country’s economic development.
Vladimir Mau spoke about the modern economic situation, the reasons for it emerging. The role of the state in the development of the economy after the 1990s was noted.
The rector of RANEPA characterized the current position of the economy as “an interweaving of several crises”, stating why this happened. He called attention to the fact that the model of economic development in the 2000s had exhausted itself. This model was aimed at strong growth of the economy after its fall in the 1990s. Vladimir Mau said that the correct steps were taken then: “The government answered the crisis not with populist slogans, but by adopting concrete measures. We avoided systemic shortcomings, we did not go down the path to populism and did not repeat the mistakes of the past.”
