Zafer Unver about Unilever sustainable development plan
Zafer Unver, Unilever Vice President for Development of Relations with customers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, made a speech in front of RANEPA Summer Campus participants. The lecturer highlighted the global problems of mankind and told what role Unilever plays in their solution.
He listed some sad facts of modern times. Currently there are over 600 million people around the world living without access to safe drinking water, and more than 700 million of the starving ones. More than 1 billion people live in extreme poverty nowadays. Using non-renewable energy resources leads to exhaustion of natural resources. Industrial wastes increase the level of greenhouse gases that cause global climate change.
The main approach of Unilever is that business should not develop to the detriment of the planet and humanity. That is why, in 2010 the company developed Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). According to this plan, the company's growth and brand development must not only be well-targeted and profitable but also responsible.
The organizers of the Summer Campus of the Presidential Academy are the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, with the support of the Group of Companies ACIG.
