What to do in case of travelling within the Russian Federation or changing the place of residence within the same city

Term for submitting documents for migration registration

• 2 business days (after arrival) if you reside in a dormitory or an Academy hotel facility

• 7 business days (after arrival) if you reside in a rented apartment

If you change your place of residence within the territory of the Russian Federation, inter alia, within the same city (including hotels/ hostels, etc.), upon returning to your permanent place of residence (hotel/ hostel/ Academy hotel facility/ rented housing), you need to register at the new place of residence.

In the event of a temporary stay in another city of the Russian Federation for a period exceeding 7 days, while staying at a private address, you need to undergo migration registration in this city.

In the event of moving to the Academy dormitory/hotel facility, contact the authorized representative of the Presidential Academy structural unit where you study/work. If you rent a room, contact the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Main Administration together with the lessor.

A foreign national staying in the Russian Federation shall carry the following documents

A foreign national may stay and move freely in the territory of the Russian Federation, subject to carrying the following documents:

• National passport with a valid visa

• Migration card with a border crossing mark

• Detachable part of the notification form on arrival in the Russian Federation with the mark of the local migration office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on migration registration

A foreign national shall present the same to law enforcement officers (police) in case of document checks.
